Steve Reich - Different Trains/Electric Counterpoint (Vinyl)

On the Grammy Award-winning composition Different Trains, performed by the Kronos Quartet, Reich recalls his childhood in America during World War II while addressing the Holocaust. In his time, Steve Reich often traveled by train between New York and Los Angeles to visit his parents, who had separated. While doing so, he reflected on what his life would have been like if he had lived in Europe and found himself on Holocaust trains instead

The three-part piece was composed by Reich in 1988 and won the "Grammy Award for Best Classical Contemporary Composition" in 1989. The New York Times declared the piece "a work of such originality that "breakthrough" seems the only possible description." Legendary guitarist Pat Metheny plays Electric Counterpoint, also composed by Reich.
