Political stance combined with hard crossover: The successful album from 1996, reissued.
With a crossover mixture of funk and metal, which had its role models in Black Sabbath, Sly & the Family Stone and Living Colour, and politically explicit, i.e. feminist and anti-racist lyrics, the multi-ethnic quartet Skunk Anansie, founded in London in 1994 by the bald frontwoman Deborah Anne Dyer ("Skin"), mixed up the pop market from the mid-nineties.
On September 21, 1995, the band released their debut "Paranoid & Sunburnt", which was received with great enthusiasm, especially in Europe, and reached number 8 in the UK charts, which meant not only precious metal, but also the awarding of various prizes. The charismatic front woman, Martin Ivor Kent (guitar), Richard Keith Lewis (bass) and Mark Richardson (drums) celebrated their absolute breakthrough with their second long player "Stoosh" and the ballad "Hedonism (Weak As I Am)", which was released as a single.
This followed the two previous singles "All I Want" and "Twisted (Everyday Hurts)", which, however, did not really ignite. Looking back, it's clear that "Hedonism" was a turning point in Skunk Anansie's career.
